Graduates and Students' Testimonials

"This has been the only high school English class that I feel has actually benefited me in a tremendous way. When I first enrolled at Future Skills High School, I thought that it was going to be a difficult task to grasp the materials due to my past experiences in English courses. However, as we discussed new concepts, such as literary genres and different forms of writing, I started to believe in myself after every lesson.

Miss Samara was a great teacher and adviser for me. I don't normally write to thank my teachers for their work, but she truly made this course a wonderful experience and I cannot thank her enough."

Pedram Grade 12 English Student

"Studying at Toronto High School has been a highly rewarding experience! When comparing Miss Samara’s grade 12 English class with my regular high school courses, one of the first things I noticed was the exceptional level of teaching.

Miss Samara’s approach to teaching helps students to not only earn better grades, but also learn valuable concepts and acquire skills that can be applied in the future. Throughout the semester, students were given the opportunity to discuss and share their ideas through relevant in-class activities. Additionally, Miss Samara would consistently explain the expectations for each related assignment and offer clear guidelines for students to follow. This approach helped me to develop my ideas, focus my writing, and clearly structure my written assignments. As a result, I was able to achieve high grades on both my persuasive and literary essays. I plan to keep all the course work, notes, and guidelines from Miss Samara’s class as a valuable reference for my future studies.

While I come from a well respected and challenging public school, it is common to hear students complain that concepts and assignments are not thoroughly explained. For example, last year we were assigned a persuasive essay, for which no guidelines were provided. When the students requested a more thorough explanation, our concerns were brushed aside as we were told that “everyone has their own way of approaching the essay”. As a result, most of the students in my class received grades below 65%, since our papers did not “meet expectations of the teacher”. This was very frustrating since these expectations were never clearly articulated.

I can honestly say that I have learned more at Future Skills High School in a few weeks than I would have over the course of a whole semester at my regular public high school. This is because every lesson and assignment was focused, taught clearly, and had a purpose. I feel as if I have gained many skills that will further my success at the university level.  There is not much more a student could ask for!"

"When I took this course in my regular school the teacher told me that it was hard and that I couldn’t do it, I took her words to heart and dropped the course. But at Toronto High School the teacher never made me feel like it was impossible, not only for me but for everyone."
